Ikat weaving
An ancestral skill from southern India, Ikat weaving is such a fastidious and meticulous process that it has been described as "the poetry of the loom". The characteristic blurring of the fabric due to the pattern is the result of the weaver's extreme difficulty in aligning the dyed threads so that the pattern stands out perfectly in the finished fabric.
