This 39x79 inches khadi cotton hand towel is designed in Paris and handcrafted with respect for the environment and Indian traditions in the region of Bengal, in the East of India. Khadi is a material woven and spun by hand from cotton, silk or wool. In India, it is a symbol of independence and resistance to colonial rule. Gandhi encouraged handmade textiles to set aside British factory-made clothing. Following this movement, each family was able to weave at home thanks to a wheel called "Charkha". More than a fabric, it is an “art de vivre", a symbol of independence and a return to essentials.

Our ethnic hand towel is also adorned with delicate embroidered patterns called Jamdani, the name of this technique which consists in weaving the pattern directly during the weaving of the product, by positioning another thread on the loom. A feat of know-how and craftsmanship!

Our products are handmade by expert artisans, each khadi cotton hand towel is unique because of its artisanal weaving and can present small imperfections which make the charm and the authenticity of khadi cotton.
