Celebrating Exuberance with Maison Particulière

These places that inspire us, that transport us.

Let us introduce you to a house that has charmed us with its exuberance and warm atmosphere. It evokes travel, subtly mixing the French Art de Vivre with the effervescence of Pondicherry. It is right there that we captured our Spring/Summer 2024 collection.

Meet Alexandra Paoli, interior architect and owner of "Maison Particulière." Beyond her expertise in design, Alexandra embodies the lively soul of this place, combining creativity and aesthetics. She shares with us her return to essentials, her inspirations, and her advice on accumulating patterns, colors, and materials without moderation while maintaining harmony.

Alexandra, tell us about your background: how did you become an architect? Was it your first idea?

I worked for over 15 years in communications for some of the world's leading luxury brands, where I was able to express and hone my aesthetic eye and eye for detail. Raised by a mother who loved to decorate, it was only natural that I wanted to tell stories through design and interior architecture. Through my travels and various encounters, I like to convey a certain art of living and a sense of joie de vivre. Maison Particulière was born of a genuine passion for harmony, happiness and color. As the head of a large and mixed family, I'm accustomed to large houses full of life, where I like to combine comfort, conviviality and aesthetics in a harmonious environment.

I initially devoted 15 years of my professional career to putting my artistic creativity to the service of communications for luxury houses, but the need to return to my first love, decorating, soon caught up with me.

What is your main objective when decorating a room?

When I design an interior, I immerse myself in my client’s lives, personalities and desires. It's essential to listen to and understand the stories of the people who live there, while bringing out the soul of the place. I conceive interior design on the intimate scale of my client's daily lives, in rational and poetic detail, and play with space, light, color, motifs and objects to express their personality.

For my part, I believe that nothing is stronger than the blending of different artistic currents. It's a driving force that constantly feeds and inspires me to create new worlds, imagine new associations and explore new horizons without limits.

How do you decide which colors, patterns and decorative objects to include in your interior design?

The role of color, like materials, is essential to me. It expresses the singular character and personality of each individual, giving spaces a desire for something more assertive, something that speaks for itself. It's up to each individual to find his or her own identity, to create ensembles that are at once singular, authentic and harmoniously organic.

A motif, an encounter with objects or materials can convey emotions. As far as possible, I try to infuse each of my projects with a little extra soul, in order to pay homage to know-how that most often comes from elsewhere. My aim: to take my customers to the end of their desires, sometimes further than they ever imagined they could go.

What are your tips for combining patterns, colors and materials in harmony?

I'm very sensitive to the blending of materials and styles. Through my travels and my various encounters, I like to convey a certain art of living and a feeling of joie de vivre. The accumulation of patterns and materials in a controlled harmony makes for a more spontaneous and comforting decor. Colors and patterns inspire me and drive my thinking, allowing me to renew myself while navigating off the beaten track.

I always give priority to the quality of the materials chosen to guarantee a stunning effect!

To express themselves, artists invent shapes and colors, and convey ideas, points of view and emotions... Without our always being aware of it, or fully understanding it, their works question us about today's society and our identity... This is also the role of an interior designer: to transform and bring to life, through emotion, a place. The most beautiful place is empty if it is not invested and embodied by the personalities it occupies.

What's your favorite piece in the SS24 Jamini range?

I particularly like the whole range of bed linen, quilts and cushions..... The brand's ethnic inspirations, its unique and original fabrics, its blending of natural materials and, above all, its respect for the environment make these pieces and this brand unique.

An invitation to travel that led me to unearth wonderful nuggets in each of their stores.
