Jamini x Isidore Leroy: A Collection Inspired by Indian Craftsmanship and French Interior Design

At Jamini, we have always imagined the home as a place filled with emotion, memories, and meaningful encounters. Every collection tells a story shaped by color, travel, artisanal craftsmanship, and the inspirations that accompany us in everyday life.

For this new collaboration with Isidore Leroy, the iconic French wallpaper house, we wanted to push this idea of cultural dialogue and travel inspired interiors even further. On one side is Jamini’s warm and vibrant universe, deeply rooted in Indian craftsmanship and block printing. On the other is the timeless elegance and artistic sensibility of Isidore Leroy.

Together, we created a series of patterns imagined as a meeting point between two heritages, two artistic sensibilities, and two ways of living within the home. Through this conversation, Usha Bora, founder of Jamini, and Jinha Song, Artistic Director at Isidore Leroy, reflect on the origins of the collaboration, the story behind the Sangam and Loni patterns, and their shared vision of interiors that feel more vibrant, more personal, and deeply inspired by culture.

How did the collaboration between Jamini and Isidore Leroy begin?

Usha Bora, Founder of Jamini

This collaboration came at a very personal moment for me because I was in the process of designing the interiors of my future apartment. I wanted to create a space filled with light and character, somewhere lively and soulful, where the dialogue between France and India, which already inspires the world of Jamini so deeply, could truly come to life. That was when working with Jinha felt completely natural. I loved the idea of translating our textile patterns into wallpaper in order to create a fully immersive decorative universe.

Jinha Song, Artistic Director at Isidore Leroy

Patterns inspired by traditional Indiennes are an essential part of Maison Leroy’s heritage, and our archives hold many traces of this rich decorative history. Reinterpreting this vibrant universe today through a creative dialogue with Jamini felt entirely natural to us. We imagined interiors where prints, colors, and textures interact with softness and harmony. This collection reflects a certain way of living at home, one that feels warm, personal, and open to light, flowers, and everyday moments.

What inspired the Loni and Sangam patterns?

Usha Bora, Founder of Jamini

The Loni pattern is one of Jamini’s signature designs. It has been one of our best sellers for years and remains a motif I have felt deeply connected to since the beginning. Loni was inspired by the psychedelic flower of the 1970s, that iconic symbol of freedom, creativity, and spontaneous joy. At the time, it could be found everywhere, in music, fashion, and festivals, carrying a wonderfully free spirited energy.

The motif was entirely redrawn to achieve more balanced proportions, softer lines, and a more harmonious rhythm while preserving the lively spirit of the original flower. Every detail was designed to leave room for the artisan’s hand, from the shape of the petals to the spaces between the forms and the slight irregularities created through hand printing. To me, Loni represents the meeting point between a powerful visual memory and the Indian textile craftsmanship that defines Jamini’s identity.

Jinha Song, Artistic Director at Isidore Leroy

Reworking Loni for wallpaper was an exciting process. We developed a completely new color palette designed to blend naturally into contemporary interiors. The colors feel warm, luminous, and elegant.

Usha Bora, Founder of Jamini

The Sangam pattern required several months of research. We wanted to create a flower that felt delicate and airy. It was a very meticulous process because we needed to preserve the refinement of the drawing while maintaining the handcrafted character that is so central to Indian block printing. For the collaboration with Isidore Leroy, the motif was combined with the house’s iconic stripes. Jinha explored several different compositions to create something poetic and quietly modern.

The collection brings together the softness of floral prints with a more graphic and almost architectural structure. That contrast is what makes it so unique.

How did the creative exchange between you unfold?

Usha Bora & Jinha Song

From the beginning, the collaboration felt incredibly warm and natural. We worked together with a great sense of fluidity and mutual respect.

Beyond the creative aspect itself, what we particularly appreciated was our shared desire to tell a cultural story. We did not simply want to create a beautiful home collection. We wanted to design patterns capable of conveying emotion and creating a connection between two worlds.

How do you imagine this collection within the home?

Usha Bora & Jinha Song

This collection immediately brings a sense of joy into a home. The patterns were designed to create interiors that feel warm, lively, and personal. They can transform a room very gently, whether through a cushion, a throw, or a wallpaper design.

I love the idea that a pattern can reveal something about the person who chooses it. To me, interior design should create emotion and accompany everyday moments of life.

Why did you choose to launch this collaboration around Mother’s Day?

Usha Bora & Jinha Song

Mother’s Day naturally evokes ideas of home, family, and memories. This collection was imagined around that feeling of comfort and intimacy. The Sangam and Loni patterns perfectly accompany those moments with softness, warmth, and light.

A decorative collection imagined as a bridge between cultures

Usha Bora & Jinha Song

Through this collaboration, Jamini and Isidore Leroy celebrate a shared vision of interior design: a home that feels alive, sensitive, and filled with stories. Combining Indian craftsmanship, floral motifs, French stripes, home textiles, and panoramic wallpaper, the collection proposes a new way of creating dialogue between cultures through interior design and textile art.

An invitation to bring into the home pieces that add color, warmth, and genuine emotion to everyday life.
